BODIAM BRINGS OUT THE BEST

Class 3

As in other classes, we like to take our KS1 class out and about.  Here they can be seen on a bug hunt.  They learnt a lot about insects from examining them at close quarters with a magnifying glass.  They were taught to treat them with respect and return them to the place they were found.

The children also did some pond dipping and found toads and newts.

It was a lovely sunny day and a picnic lunch in a wild flower meadow was the icing on the cake!

At Bodiam we encourage healthy eating and we have the Healthy Schools Award.  Here some of our Y1/2 class are making melon boats as part of their Design Technology lesson.

The Great Fire of London forms part of the KS1 '999' topic.  They learn about an important event in our nation's history and even had a visit from Samuel Pepys, who read to them from his diary!

The Fire Brigade also visit us for this topic and there is great excitement when the children get to climb onto the fire engine.  They are taught the dangers of playing with fire, how to dial 999 in an emergency and how to keep themselves safe.
